Abstract

Abstract:

This study uses the Systematic Literature Review technique to examine how hard skills and soft skills influence work readiness in the era of digital transformation. Digital developments have changed the demands of the job market, where workers are not only required to have hard skills, but also soft skills such as communication, collaboration, adaptability, and professional ethics. This study was conducted by searching literature published between 2021 and 2025 from three major databases: Google Scholar, Emerald Insight, and PubMed, using the keywords "soft skills," "hard skills," "work readiness," and "digital transformation." Of the total 1,528 articles found, 37 were selected after going through a selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the review indicate that soft skills have a significant influence on job readiness, especially in developing communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork. Meanwhile, hard skills contribute to increased work efficiency, technological capabilities, and mastery of digital skills. Most studies indicate that, “soft skills have a greater impact than hard skills on job readiness in the digital era”. These result highlight the need for a middle ground between the two abilities in training workers to be flexible and competent in the face of the ever-changing nature of today's workplace.

Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Systematic Literature Review untuk mengkaji bagaimana hard skill dan soft skill memengaruhi kesiapan kerja di era transformasi digital. Perkembangan digital telah mengubah tuntutan pasar kerja, di mana tenaga kerja tidak hanya dituntut memiliki hard skill, tetapi juga soft skill seperti komunikasi, kolaborasi, kemampuan beradaptasi, dan etika profesional. Kajian ini dilakukan dengan menelusuri literatur yang diterbitkan pada periode 2021–2025 dari tiga basis data utama, yaitu Google Scholar, Emerald Insight, dan PubMed, menggunakan kata kunci “soft skills”, “hard skills”, “work readiness”, dan “digital transformation”. Dari total 1.528 artikel yang ditemukan, sebanyak 37 artikel terpilih setelah melalui proses seleksi berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil telaah menunjukkan bahwa, “soft skill memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kesiapan kerja, terutama dalam pengembangan kemampuan komunikasi, berpikir kritis, dan kerja sama tim”. Sementara itu, hard skill berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan efisiensi kerja, kemampuan teknologi, serta penguasaan keterampilan digital. Sebagian besar penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, “soft skill memberikan dampak yang lebih besar dibandingkan hard skill terhadap kesiapan kerja di era digital”. Hasil ini menyoroti perlunya jalan tengah antara kedua kemampuan tersebut dalam melatih pekerja agar fleksibel dan kompeten dalam menghadapi sifat tempat kerja masa kini yang terus berubah
