Abstract

This study aims to systematically review the influence of work-life balance (WLB) and burnout on employee job satisfaction through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with the PRISMA protocol. Data were collected from 40 scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025 obtained through the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Emerald Insight databases. The synthesis results show that WLB has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction because it improves psychological well-being and reduces work stress. Conversely, burnout has a negative effect on job satisfaction because it reduces motivation, enthusiasm, and personal achievement. In addition, burnout is proven to be a mediating variable in the relationship between WLB and job satisfaction. This study emphasizes the importance of work-life balance and burnout prevention in improving employee satisfaction and retention. The results are expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of sustainable human resource policies.
